How do I sign in? I don't have a password.
There are no passwords. Enter your email on the sign-in page and we email you a magic link — tap it and you're in. Signing in on a different device than your email? The same email includes an 8-digit code you can type into the sign-in page instead.
The sign-in email never arrived.
Check your spam or junk folder first — then add our address to your contacts so the next one lands. The link expires after a while, so request a fresh one if it's been sitting. Still nothing after a few minutes? Contact us below.
How do I join an event?
Browse the events feed on the home page and tap "I'm in" on anything open that fits you. Organizers can also invite you by email/text or sign you up directly — and every invite also appears on the site itself: watch for the ✉ marker on My events (event invites) and Leagues (league invites) in the top menu, even if you've turned emails off.
How do scores get entered, and what if one is wrong?
Anyone in a match (or the organizer) enters its score from the event page. If you disagree with a recorded score, enter the score you believe is right — it marks the match disputed and the organizer resolves it. After an event is finalized, results freeze.
The results of an event are wrong, or I'm listed in one I didn't play.
At the bottom of that event's page, tap "Something wrong with this event? Report it", tell us what's off, and a site admin will review it.
What's the DUPR number next to my name?
Your DUPR rating — either self-reported on your profile, or synced automatically if you link your DUPR profile there. A linked profile overrides the typed number. Ratings drive handicaps and balanced team-making in events that use them.
What's the ⚡ Upset Meter?
Our win-chance predictor, fitted to this club's actual match history (not DUPR's algorithm). Before a rated, handicap-free game it shows each side's chance to win and a predicted score. It also learns: players who keep beating (or missing) their rating get quietly adjusted, so a mis-rated player stops generating fake upsets. It's a forecast, not a verdict — upsets are the fun part. Can I turn the predictions off?
Yes. If you'd rather not see win chances before you play, uncheck "Show me the Upset Meter and Championship odds" in your profile. That hides every forward-looking number from your view — other players still see theirs, and past results (like upset history) stay visible to you.
What are Championship odds on a season page?
Once a season has at least one finalized week, we simulate the remaining weeks 2,000 times — every game, using the Upset Meter — and count how often each player finishes first. That's your title chance, podium chance, and projected points. The odds move every week as real results come in.
What's the Club Insights page?
Every league has one (linked from the league page): the biggest upsets in club history with the odds the winners overcame, partner chemistry — which duos win more or less than their ratings say they should — and who's running hot or cold lately.
How do badges work?
Badges are earned automatically when an event is finalized — placements, streaks, upsets, and more, each with a rarity based on how few players have it. Browse the full catalog under Achievements. Leagues also have their own badge shelf: season awards (League Champion, Most Wins…) are granted automatically when a season wraps, and organizers can hand out fun ones. Recreational play nights don't award badges (only organized events count).
What are leagues and seasons?
A league is a club: a player pool run by a League Admin, who organizes seasons (ladder nights, rotating partners, fixed partners) and events from that pool. Joining is by invitation — accept from the Leagues page. Leagues can run members-only events, have their own head-to-head records, a Clubhouse message board, and league badges. If you want to run your own league, ask a site admin for League Admin access.
How do Messages work?
The Messages tab is live chat. You can direct-message anyone you share a league or event with, and every league has a members-only Clubhouse board on its page. New messages show a 💬 marker in the top menu. League admins can remove Clubhouse posts.
Who can invite me to events and leagues?
You decide. The default is people you share a league or a past event with — organizers you've never played with can't add you to things. In your profile, "Who can invite me" can widen that to any organizer or shut it down entirely.
What are play styles, and who decides mine?
Your peers do. After you've shared 3 games with someone — as partners or opponents — you can describe their game by picking up to 3 styles from a fixed list (Patient Dinker, Banger, Resetter, Lobber…). Every option is positive; there's no way to leave a bad review. A style appears on your page once two different peers agree on it, and counts are anonymous — nobody sees who said what. You can also pick two styles for yourself in your profile, shown separately as "self-described" (finding out your peers disagree with your self-image is part of the fun).
What's the "Your form" card, and can my coach see it?
On your own player page, the 📋 Your form card reads your finalized games for patterns: recent results vs what the Upset Meter expected, close-game record, favorite/underdog splits, partner effects — and once play styles accumulate, which styles you beat and which beat you. It's private: only you can see it (site admins excepted). If you want a coach or partner to see it, tap "Share with a coach" — that creates a private link showing exactly your card, which expires after 30 days. Nobody gets your report unless you hand it to them, and if you've turned predictions off in your profile, the card stays hidden from you too.
What's a rec play night?
Casual mode: anyone at the event can record pick-up games (1v1 or 2v2) as they happen — as many as you want. Games count toward the night's leaderboard and your head-to-head history, but rec nights never award badges and never adjust how the Upset Meter rates you. Experiment freely.
Can I use a real photo as my avatar?
Yes — upload one on your profile (it's cropped square and resized automatically), or pick a portrait from the gallery instead. Admins can reset avatars that don't belong on a family-friendly site.
How do I share an event?
Every event page has a Share link button and a courtside QR code (great for walk-ups). Shared links unfurl into a preview card in group texts — and once an event is finalized, that card flips into a mini box score with the champions and the upset of the day.
Can people who aren't signed in see my name?
Signed-out visitors can browse events and results read-only. If you'd rather they see your initials instead of your name, turn on "Hide my name from guests" in your profile — it applies everywhere, including past results.
How do I get my scores into DUPR?
DefCon Pickleball doesn't submit scores to DUPR — our stats and DUPR stay separate. Record your matches in the DUPR app as usual if you want them rated there.
